Student Artwork Galleries
Beginner and Basic Drawing Gallery:
The art in this gallery has been created by students ranging in age from five years to almost nine years of age. Beginners refers to a class level where students, ages five to six years, begin classes for the first time. The primary emphasis in this level is to develop control of materials and learn proper techniques. Secondary goals are to learn about planning, organization and persistance (not quitting due to drawing inaccuracies). Basic Drawing students are grouped into two levels, A and B, which represent their degree of age and experience. Basic A students are generally six through seven years, while Basic B students are eight through nine years of age. Projects for all three of these levels may be similar or very different depending upon the subject matter, complexity and learning objectives of the project.
Intermediate Drawing:
Students in the Intermediate drawing classes must be a minimum age of nine years. Intermediate classes are also divided into A and B levels. Intermediate A classes, for ages 9 to 12, focus primarily on core skills development (line, tone, light & shadow, perspective, etc.) with clearly stated project goals. Intermediate B classes, for students 12 to adult, present nearly identical learning objectives but with much more freedom to modify the projects and work independently. This environment is important for students to learn how to develop creative approaches and insights as well as how to proceed with them.
