Learn to draw "likenesses" and finished portraits

Drawing the human face is one of the most desirable and compelling aspects of creating art. People are naturally attracted to other people. But at the same time we are critical of the accuracy and realism that emerges from our artwork. If you are attracted to drawing faces but are not satisfied with your results this is the class for you. We will cover a lot of ground in 12 weeks helping you to develop an understanding of the anatomy and structure of faces, as well as the drawing process and techniques available, and even how your own artistic style influences your results. We will work from photographs and live models, doing both study development and finished artwork. Various materials will be used in class including, but not limited to, graphite pencil, colored pencil, charcoal and soft pastel.

This is a class intended for mature teens and adults who are interested in working exclusively on facial portrait drawing. It is also ideal for anyone wishing to improve skills and develop portfolio-quality artwork.
