STUDENT ART SHOW

 
After 3 years off due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to announce that we will be holding our Spring Student Art Show!

This is the highlight of the year for many of our students.
Join us on Saturday, June 10th or Sunday, June 11th between 12-5pm to see hundreds of amazing student artworks mounted on the walls of the studio!

See a variety of the projects offered over the past few years and imagine what your student could achieve in the future with continued art education and learning.
 

 
Do you or your student want to participate in this year's art show?
Here’s what you need to do!
 
  • Download and print the submission form below OR pick one up from the table in the studio lobby. )
  • Select 2-3 pieces of finished artwork made at ActonArt , in-studio or online (please do not submit any artwork made outside of class)
  • If you or your student needs to finish up any artwork to submit, please sign up for an "open studio" using the sheets on the table in the lobby. Open studio dates are May 6th, May 13th, and May 20th from 3:30-5:30pm. 
  • Fill out the submission form completely (one for each student) and make sure to label all artwork on the BACK with the student name and title if it is not clear from the subject matter.
  • $40 per student payment is due along with the artwork and form. This can be a check made out to ActonArt, cash, or credit card in the studio with a Square reader.
  • Drop off the artwork, submission form, and payment in the orange bucket in the lobby.
  • All students who submit artwork WILL be included in the show.
Please note, you are not required to attend the show on June 10&11 to be included in it.
Artwork will remain on the walls until next year, unless you would prefer to collect it some time after the end of the show.

ActonArt is excited to announce their “Realism” Local Juried Art Competition. This competition is open to 2D art mediums, styles, and skill levels living and working in Massachusetts and is designed to encourage growth in the art world by giving emerging artists working in the realistic manner a platform to showcase their work and talent. All applicants must be 18 years or older and can submit original artwork that adheres to the theme of “Realism”. Submissions will be judged based on technique, originality, and artistic merit. Cash prizes totaling $300 will be awarded to winning artists.

ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS: The competition is open to all local artists, living or working in Massachusetts. 2D visual art in various forms such as Painting, Drawing, Printmaking and Mixed Media are eligible. No Photography, Digital art, Sculpture, or 3D Installation will be taken into consideration. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Works must not be taller than 72" no wider than 60".

EXHIBITION:  Winning artists will be featured in a group exhibition at ActonArt, 69 Great Rd, Acton, MA 01720 from August 5 through September 1, 2023. The exhibition will also be displayed on the ActonArt web site and promoted on social media. 

EXHIBITION TERMSAll works in the show must be for sale. ActonArt will take a 40 percent commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the artist. 

ENTRY FEES:  There is a $40.00 entry fee for one to three artworks entered, presentation is by digital JPG image files. There is a $5.00 fee for each additional artwork above three. Details of 2D artwork count as an additional artwork.  Payments can be made by credit card at the time of entry using Square.

ENTRY INFORMATION:  All entries need to be emailed to Submissions@ActonArt.com with JPG image attachments or posted to a web page with a direct html link. Email files must be in JPG format, maximum 2500 pixels on largest side. Please submit attached files, not a zip file. Images may also be posted to a dedicated web page and a link provided to the page. Web page images should not be download restricted.

IMAGE USE/COPYRIGHT:  Artist retains all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork.  By entering the competition, artists selected to exhibit grant ActonArt rights to use the selected image(s) on printed materials, the gallery web site, and social media accounts for promotional purposes only. ActonArt retains no copyrights to artists work.  

NOTIFICATION:  Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than July 10, 2023. Results will be posted on or before this date at: www.ActonArt.com. Notification will be posting on the ActonArt website and all artists who provide a working email address will also be notified via email. Type your email address clearly, if a mistake is made you will not be notified. ActonArt cannot be responsible for email notifications sent to spam, not opened, or not delivered. Due to unreliability of email notification, check the Show Page for confirmation of the results.

Second Place Prize Award - $100
Third Place - $50
Honorable Mention Awards

DROP OFF and PICK UP: Artwork cannot be shipped and must be dropped off / picked up in person. Selected work must be dropped off July 24-28th, 11-7pm. At the commencement of the show work must be picked up by September 8, 2023. Any work not picked up by September 8, 2023 will be subject to a $5 per day storage fee.

2) Once your submission has been received you will be emailed an invoice. Your submission will not be complete until payment is made.
